Last Day

Like so many, today is The Snake’s last day of kindergarten.  It will be bittersweet.  Today will be especially hard for him, as we will be moving once again this summer.  He will have to leave behind wonderful new friends.  We reassure ourselves, and him, that there will be new friends and new adventures in our new town.  But really there will be lost opportunities, lost relationships, lost fun.  He is young, we tell ourselves … he won’t remember.  But I think he will.

Yesterday he said …

Mom, I want you to sign me up for kindergarten again next year.

I guess it was a good year.
