Summer’s First Popsicle

It’s officially here — summer.  If you didn’t notice the blazing heat, thunder showers and the smell of barbeques — here’s the proof — popsicles.  Nothing says summer like red tongues, sticky hands and sticks with silly jokes on them.

These were the twin’s first popsicles (notice I said twins and not babies … it’s hard, but I’m trying to remember that they are growing up).  Despite some initial hesitation, they enjoyed them.  We always had twin pops when I was a kid, you remember, the ones that were double this size.  And you always had to be careful about when the two sides came apart that you didn’t lose some of the popsicle.  My favorite was orange, still is.

Funny, my girlie liked her orange too.  She’s apparent a licker, not a biter.

Now the boy-o wasn’t so sure.  He was definitely a biter, but the whole experience got him a bit upset (note the watery eyes from some tears).  But then he had just woken up (note the sheet wrinkles on his face) when this little popsicle party got started by the big brother.

So how about you?  Had your first popsicle yet?  What’s your favorite flavor?  Biter or licker (keep it clean please)?

The twins look cute. I’m exactly like Peaches, I like orange and I’m a licker : ]

    They are growing up!
I make my own, with lemonade or orange juice. Sometimes the girl drops fruit in, strawberries or raspberries, before they go in the freezer.

Oooh, now you’ve done it. I almost, ALMOST, bought ice pop molds today, and decided we could live another day or week without home made popsicles. Now, I’m not so sure.

I did, however, buy ice cream with which to make root beer floats. Must count for something, right?

    I’m a biter, too.

Licker! And I hadn’t noticed that they don’t sell twinpops anymore until you menioned it just now. I must admit, the twin pops always stressed me out a bit. I was a neurotic child.

I am just staring at the photos of t-shirts, shorts and melting popsicles with much awe and envy.

I think we have had sun for, like, 4 days the whole month of May. It JUST made it into the 60’s up here. Apparently, I live in the wrong neck of the woods.

Cherry and I literally suck the juice out of a popsicle section until it is pale pink ice. Then I bite. So a bit of both, I guess.

Wow – adorable kids and getting so big! Like me, both my kids are biters.
